Excuses… they are so much easier than confronting ourselves with the actual facts. They comfort us when we know that we are not doing something right, or not giving it our all. With practice, we get pretty good at convincing ourselves of something that is not true but at the end, if we stay in denial and always find a way out, we are missing out on so much greatness, so much opportunity for growth and satisfaction. Now, is that worth your while?
So what are the little lies that you keep telling yourself?
Excuse no. 01: I’m Too Lazy
Crash It: You were born to move your body, feel energized and alive. So if you are feeling lazy, it’s time to realize that you are heading in the wrong direction and it’s time to make some changes in your lifestyle. Do you really want to feel lazy? Or would you rather feel strong, sexy and empowered?
Excuse no. 02: I don’t Have Time
Crash It: You don’t have 10 minutes in a 24 hour day? Did you know that you can get into the best shape of your life with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)? These short and intensive workouts can be done anywhere, anytime, no equipment needed and burn massive calories while building muscle mass.
Excuse no. 03: I’m Too “Out of Shape”
Crash It: Well that’s a great reason to get started today. Baby steps, one day at the time you can get yourself into a better shape in no time!
Excuse no. 04: I don’t Feel Motivated
Crash It: There are tons of blogs, websites, magazines, books and inspirational people out there that love motivating and inspiring others to get fit. Although they cannot keep you motivated at all times, it’s important to remember that it’s normal to not feel motivated 24/7. Keep in mind that your motivation will come and go. You need to keep rocking it even when you feel off because sooner than later you will find your drive again and be motivated by your own progress.
Excuse no. 05: I Always End Up Quitting
Crash It: You quit, start over. You quit again, start over again. As long as you keep trying, that’s what counts. Try to find something that you enjoy doing (or that you don’t hate for the least), something that fits into your lifestyle and schedule, get a friend to tag along, create short and long-term goals to keep you going, reward yourself… and for Pete’s sake, don’t ingrain negative beliefs in your subconscious mind, instead try this new mantra “I am Not A Quitter, I go all the way even when it gets rough”!
Excuse no. 06: I don’t See Results
Crash It: Perhaps it’s time to push a little harder or improve your diet. As you know, diet is key for transforming the way your body looks. Start eliminating processed foods from your diet, eat lots of clean and fresh foods and control your portion size.
Excuse no. 07: I Feel Fat and Ashamed of Myself
Crash It: You can stop feeling this way in a few weeks if you break through the ice and commit to a new and healthier lifestyle, don’t waste your time; a few months from now you can feel like a fitness model!
Excuse no. 08: I don’t Like Exercising, I Get Bored
Crash It: Try dance classes, Hula hoop, Yoga, skating, biking, long walks, cleaning, etc. If you stay active and eat a healthy and balanced diet, you will see results.
Excuse no. 09: I’m Broke
Crash It: Guess what? So am I! Thank god that all you need to get in shape is a strong mind. Chances are, that if you are reading this post, you do have access to the internet. You can get the Nike Trainer App for free workouts, or browse through YouTube and google for more workouts and fitness tips.
Excuse no. 10: It’s Too Hard
Crash It: Find something that is challenging but not too hard, modify your intensity and as you get stronger it will be less and less hard. And remember that pain is temporary, but quitting lasts forever.
Physical activity should be a part of everybody’s life.
