Sticking to a fitness routine is hard enough when you are at home, let alone when you are on the go on a business trip. And if you are a busy person, whose job require you to make such business related travels, keeping your body in shape can prove to be a real challenge. And that does not involve just finding the time and opportunity to exercise, but also adhering to a healthy eating plan. However, you need to remember that there are always ways for you to practice what you like and you shouldn’t let anything stop you from doing so. All you need is motivation.
So here are some tips on how to stay in shape even while on the move:
1. Most importantly, you will need to make a little bit of research about the hotel you will be staying at as well as the conditions they have and more particularly whether they have a gym in the hotel. Especially if you will be staying for a more extensive period of time. Also ask about all the other facilities they have – a pool, an outdoor exercise park, etc. According to what the hotel/resort has, consider what you will pack for your travel. The essentials can include: trainers, tracksuits, swimsuit, tennis racket, weightlifting gloves, jump rope, etc. And for other activities that could not be ‘performed’ at the hotel’s premises – skating, cycling, ask where the certain equipment could be rented from.
2. While travel, try to wear comfortable walking shoes as well as more informal clothing. Such, that will allow you to perform certain exercises even WHILE you are traveling. For example, if you go by train, occasionally walk back and forth through the train’s cars. When you make stops for a longer period of time go out and stretch. Remember – even just a little movement is better than no movement at all. However, if you are driving, and you are the person that is to decide when and for how long you can make stops, you can even make stops for a little bit of jogging or light exercises.
3. If the hotel/resort you are to be staying at does not have a gym, prior to starting your trip, go online and see if there are any park or trails you can take advantage of. The outdoors can be your gym, where you can easily have a great workout. You don’t even need any fitness equipment in terms of machines or free weights, take advantage of your own body weight – do push-ups, crunches, squats, pull-ups, etc.
4.Of course, the other very important part of staying fit is keeping a healthy diet. That can be extremely hard when on the go, especially if you travel to foreign countries whose cuisine is not familiar to you. In most cases, people just prefer to grab a hamburger from a fast food chain, but that is far from the best choice you can make. In this case, again, internet can help you best. Just go online and inform yourself about the restaurants in the area that serve healthy food. Also, make out a food plan and this way it will be easier for you to eat healthy.
