You are only ready to nail a new habit and reach your desired goals when you are ready to: “EMBRACE THE SUCKINESS” and LEARN HOW TO FIGHT FOR WHAT YOU TRULY WANT!
Sounds scary, I know – but it’s a temporary sacrifice that leads you to MEGA GRATIFICATION!
Becoming a stronger and better version of yourself is an exciting and mighty empowering journey, no doubt about it! But, as I mentioned in a Facebook post a few days back, the road to success comes with all sorts of bumps and lumps and if you are not expecting them and prepared to handle them cautiously, you will have much more trouble overcoming these obstacles and coming out as a stronger and more resilient being!
One of the biggest misconceptions about reaching your goals, fitness related or not, is the idea that “this time around” it will be EASIER or, out of the blue, you will suddenly be STRONGER because you are really more hyped, pumped and motivated about the whole idea!
It’s not ALL about that initial moment, it’s about how you handle ALL the other – not so glittery ones that counts!
I mean aren’t we all overly optimistic or goal-oriented after watching a super fit gal (or dude) working up a sweat on YouTube or endlessly browsing through our Pinterest #fitspiration boards (you can still follow me – haha) or again, after being a total lazy ass couch potato for the entire weekend?
If we pre-determine & base our success rate on our level of present hype, we are perpetually fooling ourselves because this state is ephemeral and we cannot count on it to push us through when times get rough!
Although failing and picking yourself back up over and over again is quite admirable & can certainly teach you a few lessons about dedication and will-power, you don’t always have to repeat the same mistakes endlessly.
There are ways to train your mind to become a better “goal-getter”!
Excitement, motivation and all that good stuff that gives us an extra push in the behind is awesome, use it to propel yourself forward & strive! But when it’s no longer available to fuel your desired course of action, in other words, when life get rough –
it’s time to reach out for your Ninja sword and fight the mental battle on your own!
Every time you win the battle and overcome your hurdles, you are simultaneously building an empowering new habit – you are subconsciously telling yourself that YOU are stronger than your urges, obstacles and triggers, and before you know it, this new belief & “warrior attitude” will become an innate reflex; the fight will no longer be needed.
In fact, instead of continuously hustling to take action in the direction of your dreams, all you’ll have to do when those “once undefeatable barriers” surge out to cloud your vision, is to scare them away – with a frightening & intimidating gaze that translates into:
“You don’t wanna mess with this badass babe – cause she’s gonna kick your ass straight back to where you belong to”!
HAH! Now that’s the kind of chutzpah we need more of!
So if you are tired & really exhausted of getting your hopes up, and setting the same goal over and over again without ever reaching it or sticking around long enough to enjoy it fully, you need to change your game plan and learn how to SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP!
Pain is part of the deal, but it’s also present in our everyday lives when we don’t follow our hearts desires, so might as well reach for the stars, no? What kind of suckiness do you want to embrace in YOUR life?
A) The kind that makes you feel like you are missing out on life
B) The kind that is uncomfortable at first, yet leads to superior greatness… the kind that makes you feel like you are a master of your own craft!?
I’ll go for B, thank you!
As much as reaching new goals and putting emphasis on becoming a stronger, better person on a daily basis can rock your world, there are always those crushing moments that might feel overwhelming and that can make you want to just give up!
So remember to use these “NINJA GOAL-GETTER” TOOLS to keep you going strong in the direction of your dreams!
