My favorite way to move my body now is walking. Walks outside in nature are just about the most healing thing I can do for myself. I feel most connected to my body when I am walking outside. I love listening to music or podcasts or inspirational lectures. I also love smiling and making eye contact with the people I see & observing the trees and nature and use it as a time to meditate and be super present. I sometimes even say affirmations as I walk!
My second favorite way to move my body is through an exercise developed by Erin Stutland called Shrink Session. It is a super groovy form of exercise that combines cardio dance and yoga with positive affirmations that you actually say out loud while you move. I adore it!
I also have a mini trampoline I like to jump on at least a little bit everyday. It is great for you lymph system and reminds me of when I was a kid. I sometimes do planks throughout the day, a few times per day, or even get up from my desk and do some jumping jacks if I’ve been sitting too long.
Yoga is a huge part of my life. I love practicing and teaching both Vinyasa and Kundalini yoga and meditation. I’m a big fan of group exercise classes so I’ll take a spinning class or a barre class about once a week for something a bit more challenging!
Healing Exercises for the Mind, Body & Spirit…
I move my body because of the mental clarity that it gives me. Also, simply because I know how good it is for me to stay youthful and active.
Basically, I need serious vitality to be able to do all the cool things I want to do in my life and exercise will help me to get there.
I listen to what my body craves though. Sometimes it wants to be told what to do in a rigorous class setting and sweat, sometimes it just wants me to guide it slowly in some mellow yoga. I listen to that now, I didn’t used to but now I follow what my body craves.
