I’m a huge believer of natural and organic food. Nowadays, most of the food we can buy in the supermarkets are so-called ‚Frankenfoods’…
I don’t believe in a fix-for-all diet.
Everybody is different and needs to eat according to their individual body type. Your body type directly influences your diet and training and is differentiated between Ectomorph, Mesomorph and Endomorph, whereupon most people are a mixture between those three. If you know your individual body type, you know exactly the right amount of macro nutrients you need to eat to reach your health or weight loss goal. For example, some people tend to tolerate carbs better than other people, however, other people are functioning better with a higher protein and lower carb intake.
The most important thing is to listen to your body!
Realize how you feel after you ate something, how much energy you have and how’s your mood! I feel a huge difference after I ate a Pizza, compared to a soup or salad. Balance is also a super important factor. I always tell my clients they should never deprive themselves. Try to eat 80% healthy and nutrient dense food and 20% whatever you feel like eating ( any enjoy every single bite ). After all, life was meant to be enjoyed.
My Typical Diet…
Generally, I don’t like to spend hours in the kitchen and I like to keep it simple. I usually start my day with my power muesli. I soak oats, chia seeds, sunflower and hemp seeds overnight and simply add some cacao, a banana and some coconut oil to it. Super delicious and it helps to keep my blood sugar level stable for hours.
For lunch I really like steamed sweet potatoes with vegetables and cottage cheese or a huge bowl of salads with lentils or millet. Now during winter I crave warm soups and stews for dinner. I like to experiment and last time I created a heartwarming celery ginger soup.
On Overcoming Emotional Eating…
The first step to get back in control of your emotional eating is to be kind to yourself.
Stop beating yourself up for it, as this only adds more pressure and stress on you. Try to pay attention to the feelings and thoughts you have before you eat, as the more aware you are about what’s going on inside, the better you’re able to cope with the situation and to make smarter choices.
I believe the solution to emotional eating is more about emotions and less about eating in general. Think about whats stressing you, write that down and try to figure out a solution. If you can change the situation, great. If not, you can still manage the way you think about it. Next time you feel anger or stress coming up, take a moment and consciously choose how you want to respond to this situation.
Also, before you’re eating this cookie or bagel, take a moment to check in and ask yourself, am I really hungry or am I just bored, frustrated or stressed?’. Better do a workout instead. Movement is a proven stress-buster and you successfully replaced the urge to indulge with some things much healthier.Want to feel healthy, sexy & confident?
